Annual Children's Expo and Public Safety Day was a huge hit with families!

On Saturday, September 22nd the Child Advocacy Center and the Bureau of Emergency Services of Putnam County hosted the 13th Annual Children’s Expo and Public Safety Day at TOPS (Training and Operations) building on the Donald B. Smith Campus, 112 Old Route 6 in Carmel.

It was a beautiful day for families to have fun all whole discovering how Putnam County keeps them healthy and safe!

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office offered Operation SAFE CHILD. Operation SAFE CHILD cards contain a child’s name, biographical information (date of birth, gender, height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc.), and a fingerprint image of both index fingers. Local businesses and organizations provided the community with information on a wide range of programs, services, and activities for children and families.

There was a huge bouncy house, face painting raffles, food, Home Depot provided a kid’s workshop, firefighters showed us how they pry open vehicles after an accident and how their equipment works. The K-9 unit showed us how these furry friends help keep the community safe, and there was even a special princess who hosted a sing-a-long and story time!

The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Putnam County is a child- and family-focused facility, providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary services to children suspected of being abused. For upcoming events and community resources visit their website http://putnamcac.org/
