The Landmarks preservation Society of Southeast held its annual Winter Holiday Party at the Walter Brewster House this past Sunday December 9th. This was a free event for any resident and their guest as well as to anyone who wished to drop in and learn about the Society and the Town's rich history. More than 50 people came out to enjoy a wide assortment of food and drink and to be entertained by the Putnam Chorale, a local singing group who, accompanied by Denise Bassett (the Society's current President) on piano, sang a wide range of holiday songs which many in attendance joined in singing. The Walter Brewster House was built in 1850 in the Greek revival style and was the residence of the founder of Brewster Village and the Society has done a wonderful job preserving it and its history.
