The New York State Police and the Putnam County Sherif Department are currently investigating a 4 four accident on Route 22 in Southeast in the vicinity of the Lakeview shopping center.
There is a report of one fatality in the accident, although that has yet to be confirmed by either the NYSP or the PCSO.
Route 22 is currently closed in both directions and the traffic is backed up considerably at this time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice.
