Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Christopher Palmiero of Patterson 12563 and Carmel High School has been recognized by the Liberty League for his efforts in baseball.
A junior righthander, Palmiero was chosen to the All-Liberty League Second Team after he went 5-2 with a 4.19 earned run average in nine starts for the Engineers this season, including two complete games. He allowed 61 hits in 53.2 innings, striking out 26 and walking 12, with a .286 opponent batting average. He went 4-1 with a 3.29 ERA in six conference starts. Palmiero has made 31 appearances for the Engineers through three seasons, including 26 as a starter. He is 13-5 with a 3.21 earned run average, recording seven complete games and three shutouts. Surrendering 166 hits in 165.2 innings, he has 138 strikeouts and only 44 walks, allowing a .266 opponent batting average.
