Funminster Celebrates Area Dogs

Putnam Service Dogs’ Funminster Dog Show Event, Saturday, May 18th at Patterson Recreation Center was a fun, lively event that celebrated all the dogs at the event - the Putnam Service Dogs’ 9 pups-in-training, and the 22 pet dogs brought by their proud owners. Dogs competed in 8 categories - Wiggle Butt, Dog/Owner Look Alike, Best Senior, Cutest Dog, etc. for a trophy, or ribbons for 2nd & 3rd prize.

Westy, the mascot of the Danbury Westerners, greeted the crowd, and added to the festivities, as did the gourmet Hot Dog cart, Chez Leonard serving up delicious hot dogs. Marilyn Glasser was the lively MC, and she, and Steve Apap of George Apap Painting, and Bill Hammond of Edward Jones, were the good natured judges,

There were many smiles (both human and dog), and much love and celebration of the dogs we cherish.

The event embraced part of Putnam Service Dogs’ Mission - to honor and promote the nurturing bond between humans and dogs.

The event was sponsored by many community businesses: Examiner Media and Halston Media Top Dog Sponsors, Putnam Press/Times Gold Sponsor, Kohl’s, Brewster Rotary, and Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Silver Sponsors, Guardian Veterinary Specialists and Good Reasons Bronze Sponsors, and George Apap Painting, Edward Jones, Local Social Media, Groomingdale’s of Mahopac,   Bell Heating & Air Conditioning, Lia Honda of Brewster, Schech’s Pool Spa Patio, Bee & Jay Plumbing and Heating, Patterson Auto Body, Fred’s Hair Salon, Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic, South Putnam Animal Hospital, and KeyBank as Friend Sponsors.
