Local Students Recognized as Community Service Leaders at SUNY Delhi

The O'Connor Center for Community Engagement (OCCE) at SUNY Delhi has recognized over 60 students for their outstanding commitment to community service.

Mikayla Luby of Patterson (Brewster High School) was named a Leader of Distinction: Associates, which recognizes seniors graduating with between 301-400 hours of service.

The awards were distributed during the annual community engagement reception in May. The OCCE supports students in finding community service activities that have a positive impact on the campus and surrounding communities. During the 2018-2019 academic year, over 950 SUNY Delhi students donated 18,400 hours of their time, completing over 542 projects on and off campus.

Community service is ingrained into the SUNY Delhi experience and students have been giving back through the O'Connor Center for Community Engagement for over 20 years. Volunteering helps students develop communication and teamwork skills they can use to be successful in the classroom, during internships, and for future studies or careers.

SUNY Delhi's hands-on approach to teaching and learning includes over 60 academic programs in specialized areas, including applied technologies, nursing, veterinary sciences, applied sciences, and liberal arts.
