Brewster's Gabriel Rush Appears in Two Movies Released This Month

Brewster's Gabriel Rush has hit the big screen again this month. Released on August 9, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a horror film directed by André Øvredal, based on the icon children's book series of the same name by Alvin Schwartz. The screenplay was adapted by Dan and Kevin Hageman, from a screen story by producer Guillermo del Toro, as well as Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The film, an international co-production of the United States and Canada, stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur, Natalie Ganzhorn, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, and Lorraine Toussaint.

The movie is described as follows: "The shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large in the small town of Mill Valley for generations. It's in a mansion that young Sarah Bellows turns her tortured life and horrible secrets into a series of scary stories. These terrifying tales soon have a way of becoming all too real for a group of unsuspecting teens who stumble upon Sarah's spooky home."

Gabriel plays a nerdy Auggie Hilderbrandt in The Big Toe

"Working on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was a huge thrill. It was a great experience working with all the cast members and especially director André Øvredal and producer Guillermo del Toro," explains Gabriel, "I believe growing up in Brewster in some way helped me prepare to portrait Auggie in the small town of Mill Valley in the film even if the year is 1968."

Gabriel made his feature film debut in Moonrise Kingdom (2012) as Skotak, directed by Wes Anderson, whom he worked with again on The Grand Budapest Hotel. You can also catch Gabriel in a cameo role in "The Kitchen" starring Melissa McCarthy which opened the same weekend.
