The Brewster community is arranging a candlelight vigil in honor of 14 year old Zachary Harrison "Z" Schwartz, at the Brewster High School Parking lot tonight September 3rd at 8:30 pm. Zachary, or "Z" as he was known to family and friends was a Brewster resident who lost a long and courageous battle against cancer this past weekend. Zachary was an avid sports fan, playing football, baseball and basketball on various teams throughout town. Attendees of the vigil are asked to bring a candle to light in memory of this amazing young man and community member.
When first diagnosed with cancer, Zachary and his family formed an American Cancer Society Relay for Life team named, ZACC ATTACK (Zach Attacks Childhood Cancer), raising money the past two years at several fundraisers and Relay for Life events in the area. Members of Team ZACC ATTACK report that at the vigil there may be additional ZACC ATTACK T-shirts available for students who would like to wear them on the first day of school to show their solidarity and support of the Schwartz family.
