Bears Enter Another OT Thriller: Upset Pleasantville For Their First Win This Season

After their second consecutive loss to Carmel at the 2020 Putnam Challenge, the Brewster Bears returned home to what would start a short series of home games. Still vying for their first win on the year, the Bears hosted Pleasantville for their fifth game on the 2019-20 basketball season. When all was said and done, the Bears came out on top in an Overtime Win by the score of 53-49.

The Bears offense had multiple scorers that were not limited to Kobey Hart with 23 points and 4 rebounds, Nick Girard and Bryce Washington each having 6 point nights and Dylan Villodas having 5 points to go with a total 13 rebounds throughout the game. Kobey Hart, Nick Girard, and Paul Catalano all fouled out near the end of the game for Brewster, but it didn’t seem to drop Brewster’s focus as bigtime plays by Villodas, Washington, Girard, and Christian Rhodes (who scored all five of his points with crunchtime free throws to complete the game) who stepped up and helped lead the Bears to their first win on their 2019-20 season.

The Bears’ next game is January 7th, against the Huskers of Yorktown at home.
