American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Brewster NY

Needs Event Volunteers

This event celebrates those touched by cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and takes action for lifesaving change

                                                                                     

Brewster, NY – January 6, 2020 – The American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life of Brewster, NY needs volunteers for its committee’s annual event on June 6, 2020, at Brewster High School.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of ACS and are critical to our success at every level. By joining the Relay For Life movement, volunteers help us save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Relay For Life continues to be the largest peer-to-peer fundraising event with 2.5 million participants globally uniting to save lives from cancer.

A meeting will be held for interested community members on January 16, 2020, at 6:00 pm at Henry H. Wells Middle School Library. Please join us to find out how YOU can become involved in this community-wide event, suitable for the entire family.

In its third year the Relay for Life of Brewster, NY raised $85,000. In the past 3 years, this event has taken place we have raised just over $250,000! They had 40 teams who rounded the Brewster High School track and welcomed over 500 people from our local community. They celebrated survivors at a very special dinner and honored those we have lost to cancer during their very moving Luminaria Ceremony. This local event not only fights cancer, but it also brings the community together.

Funds raised at Relay For Life events help the ACS fund and conduct breakthrough research, and give cancer patients and their families the resources they need, like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline for answers and support.
