Back To Square One: Bears Slow Start Leads To Blowout Loss

Coming off of an overtime win over Pleasantville on the sixth, the Brewster Bears Varsity Basketball Team moved on to their next game on the seventh against 3-6 Yorktown. Yorktown entered on a small two-game win streak with wins at Yonkers and versus Pelham Memorial to end out 2019, this was the Husker’s first game in the year. In the end, the Bears offense was stifled and it led to a 69-35 blowout loss to turn their record to 1-5 on the year.

The Bears came out to a slow start in part to Yorktown’s 3-2 Zone Defensive Scheme and failed to put up a single point until there were two minutes left in the first quarter of play. What made this slow start worse was Yorktown coming out of the gate scoring hard and it got to a point where Yorktown had a double-digit lead over the Bears. Their scoring continued throughout the entirety of the game as Yorktown never had a quarter where they did not score less than ten points.

On the Bears side of the game, Kobey Hart led the Bears once again with 10 points on the night, Steven Switzer added 9 points and Senior Captain Paul Catalano added 5.
