Maureen A. Dooner, 43 Year Resident, Business Owner and Town Employee passes

Obituary

Maureen A. Dooner, a 43-year resident of Brewster, NY, died on Tuesday April 7, 2020 at Danbury Hospital Center. She was 76 years old.

Born on March 24, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Denis J. and Margaret (Lynch) McHugh. Maureen was a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in Brooklyn, NY. She was truly a person from Brooklyn, even years later she still had her Brooklyn accent.

Maureen married the love of her life Richard J. Dooner on September 17, 1966 at St. Vincent Ferrer in Brooklyn, NY. They moved to Brewster to raise their family.

Maureen enjoyed many careers in her lifetime. Two of her greatest jobs were being a co-owner of Angelic Presents in Brewster, NY, and being a clerk at the Town of Southeast. She was an active parishioner of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. Maureen was a kind and caring person. Her home and heart were always open, and her coffee pot was always full, as she listened and brought serenity, courage and wisdom to the many friends and family that found comfort in her words and presence.

Maureen is survived not only by her loving husband Rich but also her children; Richard (Jennifer) Dooner of Pleasant Valley, NY, Heather Fortuna of Bethel, CT, Scott (Andrea) Dooner of Brewster, NY, her 3 grandchildren; Kayla, Richard and Jacob and her siblings; Margaret Lloyd, Arlene Pehrrson, John McHugh and Mary DePouli. She was predeceased by her brothers Denis McHugh and E. Thomas McHugh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at a later date at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment will be private. Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster assisted the family with arrangements.
