Obituary: David E. Cassidy of Putnam Lake.

David Efford Cassidy, a long time resident of Putnam Lake, passed away on April 19, 2020.

David was born November 12, 1941 in the Bronx. He was raised in Kingsbridge until his family moved to Katonah when he was 10 years old.

After graduating Archbishop Stepinac High School, he attended Manhattan College and then joined the Navy where he served as a Construction Electrician in the Sea Bees and was stationed at Fort Allen, Puerto Rico. It was there that he met the love of his life, Edmee.

David (Eff as he was known to many) married Edmee in Ponce, Puerto Rico and went on to raise four wonderful, amazing children.

After his naval service he worked for the City of New York where he came on as a journeyman and retired as a master electrician after 26 years

He is predeceased by his six siblings, Elizabeth Kraus, John Cassidy, Margaret Chiasson, James Cassidy, Ann Grogan and Edward Cassidy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edmee, of nearly 53 years and his four children, Isabelle Montero (Frank), David Cassidy II (Rachel), Edmee Cassidy, Christine Sheridan and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Eff was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake and was a Eucharistic minister for many years.

He loved dogs, (he was never without one), reading, gardening and laughing and spending time with his family. He and his wife vacationed frequently with their children.

Once retired he spent much of his time helping his children with their new homes and helping with the grandchildren. He will be missed and loved forever.

Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY is assisting the family with arrangements. A private cremation was held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated once the COVID-19 pandemic has ended.
