After weeks of careful planning, Brewster Central School District has announced its 2020 graduation plans. A committee made up of staff, students and parents worked together to create an exciting plan that adheres to strict social distancing guidelines while also incorporating graduation elements that are important to our Brewster community.
Graduation will take place at home at Brewster High School in a drive-in celebration on Thursday, June 18 at 8:30 p.m. (rain date: Wednesday, June 17 at 8:30 p.m.). Two large screens in the front and back of the building will play our virtual ceremony. Tickets will be distributed for admission and one car will be permitted per family.
Immediately preceding graduation, there will be a senior car parade which will allow the community to come together (following social distancing guidelines) to celebrate our Class of 2020.
Seniors will assemble in the Kohls’ parking lot beginning at 6:30 p.m. The graduating class’s Top Ten will have numbers posted on their vehicles and will lead the procession to Brewster High School. We ask that you decorate your cars in Brewster colors and with Brewster gear, being mindful of things like balloons that may block the view of other vehicles during the graduation.
In the fall, we hope to continue to celebrate our seniors. They will be invited back for Homecoming, where they will be honorary captains and invited on-field during the coin toss. We also realize that the Senior Walk is an important experience our seniors don’t want to miss out on. They will be invited back to walk through campus on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, November 25. Additional plans may be organized by the senior class officers.
Please note: A final decision on the date will be made by noon on June 15 depending on the forecast.
