Byrne Announces State Aid for Local Libraries

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R, C, Ref-Mahopac) is pleased to announce that three libraries within the 94th Assembly District have been allocated state aid for future construction purposes. The three libraries that will be receiving the grants are the Brewster Public Library in the town of Southeast, Putnam Valley Free Library in the town of Putnam Valley and the John C. Hart Memorial Library in the town of Yorktown. In total, the three libraries will be receiving over $55,000.

“Libraries provide a fundamental service to our public through the cultivation of various forms of literature,” said Byrne. “Periodically, these libraries need funding to make improvements that help them connect with today’s youth and modern readers. With these funds, Brewster Public Library, John C. Hart Memorial Library and Putnam Valley Free Library can make the changes that are necessary to continue to spread knowledge and culture throughout our community.”

The Brewster Public Library received $27,195 that will be used to build shelving and a help desk for the children’s area, which will be special-needs accessible. The John C. Hart Memorial Library received $20,999, which will be used to install new energy-efficient windows. The Putnam Valley Free Library received $10,787 for the purchase and installation of an electronic double-sided door sign. These funds are in addition to the tens of thousands of dollars Byrne has already helped steer back directly to many of our local libraries through the state's bullet aid program.
