Putnam County officials released an update on Covid-19 in Putnam County yesterday. All data provided is from 01/15/2021 through 01/21/2021, unless otherwise noted.
There are now a total of 6,845 laboratory confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Putnam County, an increase of 544 cases from the week ending 01/14/2021. 414 of the total cases are actively being monitored (but not yet released as 001/14/2021) by the Putnam County Health Department. There are currently 20 cases in Putnam County Hospital, a decrease of 5 from last week.
The Health Department reports that 6431 cases are classified Released or "No Longer Isolated/Quarantined". "Released" cases includes cases that tested positive, were quarantined and monitored as well as possible cases that may have been exposed by close contact with a positive case. No official government agency is actively tracking recovered cases at this time. The county did not release a breakdown by age group.
The total of those tested in Putnam County since the onset of the pandemic is now 135,608, an increase of 7,120 additional tests. The total county population is 98,320 residents (Source: US Census Bureau as of July 1st, 2019). This does not mean 100% of County residents have been tested as many people have been tested multiple times during the course of the pandemic for differing reasons, such as work or possible exposures to the virus.
In the last week, 2 new deaths have been recorded due to the virus, bringing the countywide total to 76 according to the NY State Department of Health.
