Eastern Connecticut State University announces special tuition rate for New York residents

Tri-State Rate presents 40 percent savings on tuition

Eastern Connecticut State University will offer a special tuition rate for students from New York beginning in the fall 2021 semester. Based on 2020-21 academic year costs, the new Tri-State Rate for New York and New Jersey students would be $15,386 in tuition and fees, compared to the standard out-of-state rate of $25,708 - an annual savings of more than $10,000 or 40 percent. Room and board is $14,434 annually for all students living on campus.

"We are pleased to be able to offer our neighbors from New York and New Jersey admission to Eastern at this lower tuition rate," said Director of Enrollment Management Christopher Dorsey. "These students will be able to pursue a high-quality bachelor's degree on Eastern's residential campus at a cost that is comparable to attending a public university in their home state."

Eastern provides a primarily undergraduate education that is rooted in the liberal arts and grounded in a variety of applied learning opportunities - internships, undergraduate research, service learning and more. Students can choose from 40 majors and 60 minors spanning the arts, sciences and humanities. Small class sizes foster close relationships with faculty. Through a well-rounded and interpersonal education, Eastern students develop strong communication, critical thinking and collaboration skills, and become informed and engaged citizens who succeed in a range of careers.

Located in Willimantic, CT, Eastern is a short drive from Hartford, CT, and Providence, RI, and less than three hours from Boston, New York City and the mountains of Vermont. The majority of the University's approximately 4,000 students live on campus in 14 residence halls. In addition to attracting students from 162 of Connecticut's 169 towns, Eastern also draws students from 33 other states and 20 countries.

Eastern also boasts 19 NCAA Division III athletic teams, more than 90 student clubs and organizations, and numerous state-of-the art academic facilities. Eastern was the #1 ranked public regional university in New England in U.S. News and World Report's 2021 edition of "Best Colleges" and has been awarded "Green Campus" status by the Princeton Review 11 years in a row.
