Spectator Procedures for Sporting Events at Brewster Schools

The Brewster Central School District has released to regulations for attending sports events on their campus

During the week of March 8, numerous Section One meetings occurred, focusing on the planning and preparation for the Fall II and Spring seasons. Information was gathered from Athletic Administrators by their Conference Presidents, while Superintendents from across the four counties discussed the impacts of potential adjustments to the Section One spectator policy.

The Section One Executive Committee relies heavily on information gathered from its member schools. This feedback continues to serve as an integral component of their decision-making process.

At a meeting on March 12, the Section One Executive Committee unanimously decided the following:

• The adoption of the NYSDOH Sport & Recreation guidance for Fall II and Spring outdoor sports. This policy, which went into effect, Monday, March 15th will permit two spectators per player from both the home and away team.

• The approval of two spectators per home athlete for Fall II regular season indoor sports. This policy went into effect Monday, March 15th. In addition, the Executive Committee has approved two spectators per senior athlete from the visiting team for all Fall II post-season culminating events.

As always, individual school districts and non-school based venues can be more restrictive than the newly adopted spectator protocols outlined above. The number of spectators at our swim meets at Green Chimneys will be an example of this. Green Chimneys is requiring us to be more restrictive. On Senior Night, our Senior athletes will be able to have two spectators each, no other spectators will be permitted. However, for all home meets thereafter, each swimmer will be permitted to have one spectator present.

On March 18, 2021, our Fall 2 sport athletes will be participating in games and matches in Brewster and at other schools in Section One.

When there are games on the Brewster Schools campus, all spectators will do the following before being allowed to take their seat.

1-Park in the JFK parking lot and check in with our chaperone at the field entrance. At the turf field this will be near the concession stand. At other fields or courts we will clearly designate where to go.

2-Show the chaperone your tickets. Two tickets will be given to your athlete for your to use for every home game. Please keep these in a safe place as you will use them for every home game.

3-Complete the visitor health screening and temperature check. The link for the visitor health screening is here.

Wear a face covering and remain in the designated seating area. All seats will be marked to ensure appropriate social distancing.
