Maloney Announces Over $28 billion in Economic Relief for Restaurants

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) announced that restaurants in the Hudson Valley can now apply for direct relief through the American Rescue Plan’s $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Applicants should register on the U.S. Small Business Administration application portal.

“Not only to restaurants help drive our economy here in New York, but they’re also deeply rooted in our Hudson Valley community. The past year has put unprecedented strain on the restaurants we know and love, but now, help is here,” said Rep. Maloney. “I am proud the relief I fought for is now available to restaurants across America. This funding is going to help jumpstart our economy – because when our restaurants thrive, our community thrives.” 

The Restaurant Revitalization Fund will provide restaurants and other eligible businesses with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business. The relief does not have to be repaid, provided that the funds are put toward eligible uses by March 11, 2023. 

The Restaurant Revitalization Fund application portal can be accessed here. Participating POS providers include Square, Toast, Clover, NCR Corporation (Aloha). 

Entities eligible to apply:

  • Restaurants
  • Food stands, food trucks, food carts
  • Caterers
  • Bars, saloons, lounges, taverns
  • Snack and nonalcoholic beverage bars
  • Bakeries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Brewpubs, tasting rooms, taprooms (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Breweries and/or microbreweries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Wineries and distilleries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Inns (onsite sales of food and beverage to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Licensed facilities or premises of a beverage alcohol producer where the public may taste, sample, or purchase products

In February, Rep. Maloney voted to pass the American Rescue Plan Act, which included the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and provided an additional $23.5 billion in new funds for New York’s state and local governments, including an estimated:

  • $75 million for Orange County
  • $57 million for Dutchess County
  • $19 million for Putnam County
  • $188 million for Westchester County
