In order to be eligible to participate on the first day of practice of the Fall season, please read the information below:

COVID-19 Information
We will continue to work with the New York State and the Putnam County Departments of Health to monitor
COVID-19 and implement mitigation strategies as needed. We will also be following the rules and guidance of the
New York State Public High School Athletic Association and New York State.
If an athlete tests positive for COVID-19 and is able to return to school on day 6, a well-fitting mask must be worn until
day 10.

Cardiac Clearance
If an athlete has contracted COVID-19, they must have a Cardiac Clearance prior to being approved to participate
in the Fall season. Due to the potential cardiac issues with COVID-19, this is a necessity.
COVID-19 Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk
All families must read and acknowledge the COVID-19 Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk form which is
included as part of the Family ID registration.

Athletic Physicals
A student-athlete that intends to try out and participate on an athletic team must have an up-to-date athletic physical on file. The health examination for qualifying a student's participation in interscholastic athletics is valid for a period of 12 continuous months - through the last day of the month in which the exam was conducted; and through the entire sports season, even if the exam’s expiration is before the season is completed. Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act
The Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act is effective on July 1, 2022. This Act was written to ensure that schools, students and parents are provided with critical, lifesaving information on sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) risks, signs and symptoms, to ensure students at risk are evaluated prior to participation in athletics, and that the SCA is immediately recognized and treated to prevent death.

Please read the information on Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act here:

Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act Information

Concussion Information
New York State has had a Concussion Management and Awareness Law since July 1, 2012. A concussion is a reaction by the brain to a jolt or force that can transmitted to the head by an impact or blow occurring anywhere on the body.
Essentially a concussion results from the brain moving back and forth or twisting rapidly inside the skull. Please read our Concussion Management Information here: Concussion Management Information

Completing the Family ID Registration Information
● As you may be aware, our athletic teams register through the online system called Family ID. This system is currently being used by many school districts locally and throughout the country with the goal of making the athletic registration process paperless and more efficient. When the system is successfully implemented a parent/guardian can enter essential information once and update it season by season during the career of the student-athlete. In addition, the District has worked with our legal counsel and insurance carriers to review and approve Family ID and their security measures.
● In order to prepare for the Fall 2022 season, we are asking that our Brewster Central School District athletes register online at FamilyID.com. Family ID has a responsive web-site that can be viewed on a smartphone, tablet or other mobile device.
● The registration period for Brewster High School varsity and junior varsity athletes will
be opening/closing from:
Opening Friday, July 22, 2022 at 9:00 am until Friday, August 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm
(closing) for varsity and jv athletes

Opening Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 9:00 am until Monday, September 5, 2022 at
1:00 pm (closing) for modified athletes

FAMILY ID WILL BE THE PRIMARY METHOD OF REGISTRATION FOR ALL BREWSTER
CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ATHLETES! If you need a paper packet for registration, please stop
in the Brewster High School Athletic Office. The same registration dates apply.
● When registering, please make sure that you check off and/or acknowledge all necessary items. If you receive an email stating that a ‘correction is required,’ please edit the item(s) that you are
asked to and re-submit your registration. If after editing you still have a problem, please contact
the Athletic Office, and I will be glad to help you. Please note that the student’s BCSD email
address cannot be used to register. Outside email addresses must be used.
● In the interest of being fair to all athletes trying out for a team, if an athlete does not register for a team within the dates/times requested, the opportunity to tryout and/or participate for the team
MAY be affected. Timely registration makes things easier for all of us! In order to make sure that
athletes are properly registered, the registration window WILL NOT BE OPEN on the first day
of high school varsity and jv practice:
*Saturday, August 20 for varsity and jv football
*Monday, August 22, 2022 for modified practices

An athlete may register but CANNOT practice (including tryouts) until approved by the nurse.

PLEASE REGISTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.
● High school and modified athletes can register for ONE team only. Athletes that wish to change
their registration to a different team can do so only ONE time! Athletes must complete this
change on Family ID. The Athletic Office and the nurses cannot do this for you.
● An athlete MUST register for the team that they wish to participate on.
