Local Dancers Take 2nd Place in National Dance Competition in NYC

Dancers from the Seven Star School performance team spent the week of July 10-16 in New York City at the American Dance Awards National Dance Competition! There were over 1,000 entries from studios from all over the US, Canada, South America, South Africa and China!

Seven Star School dancers were invited to participate in the dance-off finals in both the 12 and under and 13 and over age divisions and were selected as nominees for the top routines of the competition. Director, Nicole Aravena, was a finalist for top choreographer in the 12 & under division for a tap routine entitled, "Coffee In a Cardboard Cup." Undertow, a contemporary group, was awarded top honors and received 2nd place nationally in the small group category.

Additionally, dancers Macey Hollander (South Salem), Sarah Shectman (Mahopac), Jillian McNamara (Brewster), Amanda Ostuni (Brewster), Sofia Ruggeiro (Brewster) and Kiersten Sanok (Brewster) spent the week as Dancer Of the Year contestants in which they performed a solo routine, took judged classes and learned an opening number routine.
