Brewster Schools will Pilot New Logo for 1 year

The following letter was released by Brewster Central School District regarding the logo.

November 20, 2017

Dear Brewster Parents,

At the November 14, 2017 Board of Education meeting, the Board voted 6-1 to pilot the Strategic Coherence Plan (SCP) logo for one year . As stated in previous communications, the usage of the Brewster bear mascot is unchanged. Our Brewster bear will appear on all of the items that it currently appears on: athletic wear, Bear wear clothing, lanyards, our website, letterhead, pencils, ID badges, rugs, stuffed animals, cafeteria tables, banners, etc. The SCP logo will be used as a shortcut to symbolize our commitment to preparing children to be successful in the 21st century through the skills outlined in our Strategic Coherence Plan. The logo will be used to draw attention to the examples of how the 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration/communication, perseverance, adaptability and civic responsibility are integrated into curriculum, instruction, assessment, the learning environment and professional learning.

During this pilot period, the Board of Education and District leaders will enlist community feedback about the SCP logo through the use of surveys and focus groups. We’ll provide more information about when surveys will be administered and how to join a focus group. If the SCP logo does not help the District to promote and market the SCP plan, the Board of Education will discontinue its use.

Again, our Brewster bear mascot stays in place as an important symbol of community pride and tradition. The SCP logo is being piloted for a year as a symbol for our Strategic Coherence Plan.

Warm regards,
Valerie Henning-Piedmonte
