New George Mallas Album Produced in Brewster Released at Party on January 7

JacqueButterfly is pleased to announce on January 7th, 2018, George Mallas hosted a release party to introduce his sophomore effort, “unscathed.” The event was presented at The Heights at Brother Vic's in South Salem, NY to an appreciative, packed house.

David Powers, who produced the album at his Starr Ridge Studios in Brewster, NY, and who is widely featured on the album, kicked off the afternoon performance with a half hour of acoustic music that included some of his original music.

Don Lowe and Jacque Roche, radio hosts at Pawling Public Radio, introduced George, who opened with a solo performance of his Christmas song, “Tidings and Cheer.” George then brought up Emma Kiara to sing, “You Don't Notice When It Rains” a song George wrote for a woman's voice but does not appear on the album.

George was then joined by various musicians who contributed to the album, including: Lisa Dodakian/violin, Chris Teal Davis/dobro and slide guitar, Julie Sorcek/flute, Tony Aiello/sax, and Powers/guitar and backup vocals. Kiara joined in on two duets and sang backup on a third song. Mallas' son Peter also supported on guitar, as did Mike Cohane on drums and Brian Strom on bass guitar.

Mallas and guests played through the entirety of the album, ending on a high note with breakout song, “I'm Gone,” featuring Tony Aiello's superb sax talents.

Many local musicians were in attendance, including Don Egry, who composed the tenth track and only cover on the record, “Standing in the Rain.” Melanie Berti, who wrote lyrics for Don’s song as well as three others was also present in the crowd.

“I am lucky to have the talents of these local musicians along with David Powers’ vision. They really brought these songs to life,” George exclaims. The appreciation of his fellow musicians doesn’t stop at grateful recognition. The album liner notes include the dedication “This album is dedicated to all musicians who go unrecognized in their labor of love and to those who open their venues to musicians who would otherwise never be heard.”

The Release Party was a free event, open to the public with food and beverages available for purchase from the large-event caterer.
