Irish Eyes Smiled at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Mahopac

It was a sea of green as far as the eye can see when well over a thousand marchers took to Route 6 to celebrate at the Northern Westchester - Putnam 42nd Annual Saint Patrick's Day held on Sunday, March 11, 2018. Spectators were treated to Irish step dancers, Emerald Society Bands, Marching Bands, Civic Organizations, Government Officials, local Fire and Police Departments, businesses and community groups. Putnam County Executive, MaryEllen Odell was elected to serve as Grand Marshall and led the procession.

According to their website,  the parade is the third largest in New York state.  "This parade is meant to recognize and celebrate Irish culture, heritage and pride, for those who have emigrated here from the Emerald Isle, the Irish-American community, as well as those who are Irish in spirit!"

After the parade, the Knights of Columbus Council Our Lady of the Lakes Council 6318 held an afterparty including a corned beef dinner and entertainment by Ed Mullaney, Kelly Oster Dance School, bagpipers from our own and loved Stephen P. Driscoll Memorial Pipe Band .
