Wooster School's Jillian Schnaudigel of Brewster earns the 2018 Putnam County Youth Volunteer Award

Wooster School ninth grade student, Jillian Schnaudigel of Brewster, NY, received the 2018 Putnam County Youth Volunteer Award on April 13 at the 33rd Annual Putnam County Youth Awards Dinner held at the Putnam County Golf Course. Jillian attended the event with her family, friends, and Megan Rajbanshi, Wooster School's Director of the Center for Social Impact.

As one of over 100 finalists, Jillian, along with 15 other amazing high school students, was honored for her exemplary community service and compassion. Jillian has been an active participant in multiple fundraising initiatives including: Pennies for Patients, March of Dimes, Race for the Cure, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Women's Center of Danbury, and Habitat for Humanity. As a Certified Instructor in Taekwondo, Jillian mentors students of all abilities from ages four through adult, giving back through leadership and representing a strong, positive role model for younger female martial arts practitioners. As part of Wooster School's Center for Social Impact, Jillian continues give back to her community and inspire others to act by volunteering with Big Brothers /Big Sisters and the Mill-Ridge Primary School Mentoring Program.

Jillian received multiple Certificates of Merit, Certificates of Achievement, Certificates of Recognition, and Certificates of Commendation from the Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, NYS Senators Terrence Murphy and Sue Serino, Assemblypersons Sandra Galef and Kevin Byrne, and the Putnam County Youth Bureau.
