Please see the letter below from Superintendent, Valerie Henning-Piedmonte:

May 7, 2018

Dear Brewster Community,

Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Deirdre Holic and the Brewster High School chapter of Mu Alpha Theta for receiving the Diane Rubin Service Award for their history of outstanding mathematics service to the community. Mu Alpha Theta participated in a variety of fundraising events this year through their annual Math-a-Thon, which benefitted St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Brewster Community Food Pantry and Adopt-a-Family. The chapter will receive a grant and a plaque in few weeks.

On April 26, seventy-four high school students were inducted into the National Honor Society. The student names are here. Mu Alpha Theta and the Science Honor Society held its annual induction program on May 3. The program and student names are here. Forty-five students were inducted into Mu Alpha Theta and nineteen joined the Science Honor Society. These students worked hard to fulfill the expectations required for membership in these distinguished organizations. We honor their dedication and commitment for excelling intellectually and for serving others.

I would also like to recognize the accomplishments of Ms. Cynthia Amuso, Mr. Robert LoAlbo and the Brewster High School newspaper staff called Bear Facts for placing second in the 2018 American Scholastic Press Association’s newspaper competition. We are proud of their achievement and excellence in developing a student newspaper that honors and promotes stories of interest to students and stories written by students. Please take a look at the latest edition which is here.

As we launch Teacher Appreciation Week, please thank the many Teachers who dedicate their time, energies and enthusiasm to prepare children to embrace a future with hope and many possibilities.

Warm regards,

Valerie Henning-Piedmonte
