Brewster Superintendent to Resign at End of Contract

After five years in the Brewster Central School District, Dr. Valerie Henning-Piedmonte announced that she will be resigning as Superintendent of Brewster Schools at the end of her contract July 31, 2019. 
 
When asked to about her years with the Brewster Central School District, Dr. Henning-Piedmonte stated:
 
This year marks my 25th year in public education serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, director, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent and superintendent. I came to the District in 2013-14 as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and was promoted two years later to Deputy Superintendent and in August, 2016 became Superintendent. In my five years in Brewster, the following was accomplished:
  • Implement and operationalize the Strategic Coherence Plan, which is the District's blueprint for 21st century academic and social emotional learning
  • Adoption of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop in grades K-5 as the ELA curriculum
  • Adoption of the Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum 
  • Oversaw completion of the $38.9 million dollar construction project
  • Acquired a one year STEM grant for science educators to utilize the JASON STEM Learning curriculum
  • Established the Brewster Community Learning Center to offer low cost learning opportunities for residents and non-residents
  • One-to-one Chromebook implementation 

Letter of Resignation dated June 26, 2018:

Dear Brewster Board Trustees,

I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Schools. This letter serves as my notice to you that I am resigning from my position as Superintendent of Schools. I intend to complete the remainder of my contract, which ends on July 31, 2019.
