Mahopac Sophomore pitches Perfect Game

Shannon Beccker, a Mahopac High School Softball pitcher has earned immortality by pitching what’s being called by some a “perfect” perfect game. This past Wednesday the 16 year old took the mound against rival Carmel High School and not only did she not allow a hit or a walk, she struck out ALL 21 batters she faced in an 8-0 victory. A first in NY State history. Just last month she recored her 500th strikeout in a win against Brewster High School and with Wednesday’s 21 k’s, she has upped her career total tp 634 in only her sophomore year.

In addition to being a star softball player she also plays basketball and soccer but softball is her passion. She has been watched by college recruiters since she was 6 according to her father, Bob Becker. Shannon hopes to one day play professionally. Should that not happen, she is also a straight “A” student with aspirations of being a sports reporter.
