Westchester Parks Foundation and Con Edison Unveil Trail Kiosk at Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary in Rye and Croton Point Park

Westchester Parks Foundation, the only organization dedicated exclusively to promoting and supporting Westchester County Parks, unveiled new informational trail kiosks at Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary in Rye and Croton Point Park. This was made possible by a $20,000 grant from Con Edison toward Westchester Parks Foundation’s Trail Promotion and Environmental Awareness Program.

Christine La Porta, Deputy Executive Director of Westchester Parks Foundation stated: “Con Edison has been a long-standing supporter of the parks system through Westchester Parks Foundation. These are the seventh and eighth informational trail kiosks that Con Edison has generously funded at County parks and is a great way for visitors to find new ways to explore the parks.”

“It’s important that everyone be able to enjoy Westchester’s lush parklands,” said Con Edison’s Westchester Director of Regional and Community Affairs Jane Solnick. “The kiosks provides hikers, bikers and strollers with information and guides to better appreciate all that beauty and have fun too.”

As the leading organization advocating for the county park system, it is the mission of Westchester Parks Foundation to encourage continued investment in Westchester County’s parks, trails and open spaces. Since its inception in 1977, the nonprofit organization has held close to the notion that it is critical to provide ongoing support for maintenance, civic improvement and access to nature.
