Obituary: Joseph J. Dyas, Brewster Elks Lodge Member (BPOE #2101).

Joseph J. Dyas, of Danbury, CT, died peacefully on December 3, 2019 at Village Crest Health Rehabilitation Center, New Milford, CT. He was 83 years old.

Joseph was born on March 24, 1936 in Danbury, CT, son of the late Francis and Josephine (Light) Dyas. He was a graduate of Brewster High School and Honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

In November of 1957 Joseph married the love of his life Janice A. Salmon. Janice predeceased him on January 3, 2007.

Joseph was a truck driver with Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, CT for 10 years before retiring in 1991. Prior to his job with Kimberly-Clark he was a driver for Anchor Motor freight in Tarrytown, NY from 1957-1981. Joseph was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 2101 and the VFW Post 672, both of Brewster. In addition to his enjoyment of golf, Joe was a big football fan and in the winter months he could be found watching the UConn girls Basketball games.

Joseph is survived by his loving children; Michael J. Dyas of Brewster, NY, JoAnn Polverari and her husband Edward of Patterson, NY and Marci Dyas of Brewster, NY, his 5 grandchildren and his brother Thomas Dyas of Danbury, CT. He was predeceased by a daughter in law Janice Dyas in 2015.

A memorial wake will be held on Monday December 9, 2019 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 3pm-6pm. A religious service of prayer along with services by the members of Brewster BPO Elks Lodge #2101 and the VFW Post #672 will take place during the wake.
