This is Kazuo Ishiguro’s profoundly compelling portrait of Stevens, the perfect butler, and of his fading, insular world in post-World War II England. We will also be screening the movie adaptation on Thursday, May 30th and Tuesday, June 4th at 10:30 AM.
Thursday, July 11th - Varina by Charles Frazier
When teenager Varina Howell marries the much-older widower Jefferson Davis, she expects the secure life of a Mississippi landowner. Thursday, August 1st - A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza
Set around an Indian-American Muslim family, this novel tells the recollections of crucial moments from the family’s past—moments that both brought them together and tore them apart. The novel captures the struggle in balancing authenticity in oneself with staying true to one’s family culture, spanning themes such as love, identity, and belonging.
Thursday, September 19th - The Man with no Borders by Richard Morais
Nearing the end of a long, tumultuous life, aristocratic Spanish banker José María Álvarez is overcome by memories of the past.
