Thursday, June 6th - The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

This is Kazuo Ishiguro’s profoundly compelling portrait of Stevens, the perfect butler, and of his fading, insular world in post-World War II England. We will also be screening the movie adaptation on Thursday, May 30th and Tuesday, June 4th at 10:30 AM.

Thursday, July 11th - Varina by Charles Frazier

When teenager Varina Howell marries the much-older widower Jefferson Davis, she expects the secure life of a Mississippi landowner. But instead Davis pursues a career in politics, eventually being appointed president of the Confederacy, placing Howell in a position where she soon learns complicity carries consequences. Please note the change in date.

Thursday, August 1st - A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza

Set around an Indian-American Muslim family, this novel tells the recollections of crucial moments from the family’s past—moments that both brought them together and tore them apart. The novel captures the struggle in balancing authenticity in oneself with staying true to one’s family culture, spanning themes such as love, identity, and belonging.

Thursday, September 19th - The Man with no Borders by Richard Morais

Nearing the end of a long, tumultuous life, aristocratic Spanish banker José María Álvarez is overcome by memories of the past. When José’s initially pleasant memories are supplanted by regrets, dark family secrets, and guilt, José must learn to come to terms with his mortality and his past.
