Morningthorpe Ave Bridge in Brewster to Re-Open Aug 31.

The 126-year-old bridge will open as a pedestrian and bicycle path that will help spur the Village of Brewster’s economic development, bringing people to Main Street, village parks and the Metro-North train station.


Putnam County will hold a Ribbon cutting Monday, Aug. 31 for the grand reopening of the Morningthorpe Avenue Bridge, the pedestrian and cyclist gateway to the Village of Brewster. The bridge has been closed since 2007. In 2014 County Executive Maryellen Odell announced that Putnam County secured federal funding for the reconstruction of the bridge through the Mid-Hudson South Technical Coordinating Committee and the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council

What: Grand reopening/ribbon cutting for the newly reconstructed Morningthorpe Avenue Bridge that connects Route 22 to Railroad Avenue. After a $2.6 million renovation, the 126-year-old bridge will open as a pedestrian and bicycle path that will help spur the Village of Brewster’s economic development, bringing people to Main Street, village parks and the Metro-North train station.
