Artistic Makeover on Track at The Dining Car at Brewster Station

If you haven’t stopped in to the train station in the heart of Brewster Village lately, you are in for a surprise! The Dining Car at Brewster Station has been changing things up in their historic building.

Having served local commuters breakfast and coffee for 11 years, they are under new management.  Kitchen Manager Aimee Buck stated that they are updating and upgrading to make more use of the space for creative purposes. Artwork by local artists, like Anthony Malachi, is now decorating the walls and musicians are utilizing the space for practices and performances. Aimee welcomes local artists, musicians and business owners to display artwork every 6 months.

Aimee explains, “I've been working at the dining car for 5 years now I started off as just a cook and was able to move up to Kitchen manager. I now have been given the opportunity to follow my dreams of making this historical building into a creative space for all art forms. The space has even been used for personal band practices. The acoustics of the building are breathtaking and I hope to give the local community and surrounding areas the opportunity to feel the magic for themselves.”

The Dining Car at Brewster Station also updated their lunch menu to include specialty hot and cold sandwiches with the help of cook Brandi Margi. Early morning commuters appreciate their grab-and-go setup for breakfast, beverages, sandwiches and pastries. They offer a wide variety of flavors from Jamie Marshall Coffee, espresso drinks, fresh baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches and platters, fresh fruit parfaits and smoothies. There is plenty of time to stop by before a train. They are open from 4:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

You don’t need to be catching a train to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Townspeople can be found sitting at café tables and benches throughout the day.

They also feature products from local Baker, Mother Hanley from Somers, NY. You can grab one of a variety of her homemade home-baked granola, fresh baked cookies and blueberry jam. Personal orders can be placed at The Dining Car, as well.

In the coming months, they will begin to hold events in the evening including: Open Mic nights, live bands, paint and wine events and much more. You can find out about any events or promotions on the Dining Car at Brewster Station Facebook page or @bnyCafe on Instagram.

The Dining Car at Brewster Station located at 401 Railroad Avenue in Brewster, NY, is excited to bring the community closer together through the arts, good coffee and tasty food.
