Brewster Schools Offering Showers and Collecting Items to Distribute to Community Members in Need

Brewster Central School District released the following letter this morning, May 17:

Dear Brewster Community,

Tuesday’s storm ravaged areas in our community and many are in dire straits. For those without electricity,  the showers at Brewster High School will be available today from 10:00am-10:00pm. All are welcome. Please use the lower parking lot behind the high school to enter the building.  A staff member will be available to provide directions to the male and female showers. While the female showers have private stalls with shower curtains, the male showers were designed with less privacy.

In addition, it was brought to my attention that not only are people without homes, many people are without toiletries or basic food items. As a result, we have opened a donation and distribution site at Brewster High School in the foyer near the cafeteria. Please bring toiletries (soap, paper towels, razors, deodorant, lotion, baby wipes, etc.) and food items that don’t require preparation or refrigeration such as snack bars, juice, granola bars, dry cereal, healthy crackers, canned food with flip tops and plastic spoons and forks. To deliver or pick up items, please use the lower parking lot behind Brewster High School to enter the building. Anything that you can do is greatly appreciated.

If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Warm regards,

Valerie Henning-Piedmonte
