and Live Performances from Celisse Henderson, Michael Thurber, Lauren Henderson, Brittain Ashford, Grace McLean, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and Cultural Arts Coalition’s Concerts Around the Corner Ensemble

Brewster, NY (June 5, 2018) - SPACE on Ryder Farm--a nonprofit residency program for artists and activists housed on a 223-year-old working organic farm in Putnam County, New York--announced its 2018 Events Calendar, featuring farm-to-table dinners and outdoor performances at Ryder Farm.

Taking place each month from June through August, SPACE on Ryder Farm's Seasonal Supper series is a showcase for creativity on the plate and on the stage, pairing intimate performances from SPACE’s affiliated artists with farm-to-table menus prepared by innovative chefs from New York City and the Hudson Valley. The first Seasonal Supper will take place June 23rd, featuring soulful singer-songwriter Celisse Henderson and a seasonal three-course menu from chef Rebecca Newman served al fresco at Ryder Farm. Proceeds from Seasonal Suppers support SPACE’s annual residency programs, which provide fully-subsidized 1-5 week residencies for artists, activists and creative changemakers.

Sharing SPACE is a performance series that invites the public to Ryder Farm for outdoor performances from neighboring Putnam County arts organizations and SPACE resident artists. 2018 performances will include Cultural Arts Coalition’s Concerts Around the Corner ensemble (July 28th) and Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s original production of The Sea-Maid’s Music (August 12th). Both Sharing SPACE events are family-friendly, with tickets available for under $15.

The highlight of SPACE’s on-farm season, The Roving Dinner (September 15th) is an eight-course dinner paired with excerpts of eight new plays and musicals developed by SPACE’s Working Farm writers group. Prepared by SPACE’s resident chefs Brendan Spieth and Kate Eminger, each course is served alongside a performance at eight locations around Ryder Farm. The most robust of SPACE’s residency programs, The Working Farm brings seven playwrights and one composer/lyricist to Ryder Farm for five non-consecutive weeks to nurture and inspire the creation of a new work for the theatre. The 2018 writers are Ngozi Anyanwu, Will Arbery, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Dave Harris, A. Rey Pamatmat, Michael Thurber, Anne Washburn and Stefanie Zadravec.
