Former County Clerk Dennis Sant Endorses Kevin Byrne for County Executive

This week, former Putnam County Clerk, Hon. Dennis Sant, endorsed Assemblyman Kevin Byrne’s candidacy for Putnam County Executive.

“First let me congratulate our current County Executive Mary Ellen O’Dell for the excellent way she has led this county through very difficult times, a job well done and she will be greatly missed."

"During my tenure as Putnam County Clerk, I stood against a storm of media protests for refusing to give out pistol permit holders’ personal information. I believed that this would have caused an unwarranted invasion of our citizen’s personal privacies and would have placed them in harm’s way. We need a candidate like Kevin to protect our 2nd Amendment rights as well as our privacy. He is a law-and-order candidate with a background as a first responder and has strong conservative family values. This is why I wholeheartedly endorse Assemblyman Kevin Byrne for Putnam County Executive!”

Sant continued “As a father, Kevin stands with the parents of Putnam County that want to have a say in their children’s education. He wants our children to be taught how to think, not what to think. Kevin strongly supports that all school board members are public servants and accountable to the parents who have voted them into office."

"Kevin Byrne enjoys the utmost respect and admiration from law enforcement, his colleagues, and elected officials alike. He is a true gentleman with unparalleled experience and expertise. I am proud to call Kevin Byrne my friend and enthusiastically endorse him for our next Putnam County Executive!”

Kevin Byrne thanked the former county clerk for his endorsement. “For 12 years, Dennis Sant served as our County’s Clerk and was a remarkable leader for our community. A veteran himself, Dennis always cared for our military heroes and helped enhance services and programs for Putnam County’s veterans. He stood firm against the pressures of the media and protected the personal information of the residents in Putnam with pistol permits. His actions ensured that our county would defend our constitutional rights, an act which I admire."

"As a candidate for county executive, Kevin brings a diverse background of knowledge and management experience from his time working in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Prior to his three terms in the state Assembly, Kevin worked in healthcare administration for New York’s largest private multi-specialty medical group. He also served as a regional director for the American Heart Association, deputy district director to former Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, member of the Putnam Valley Town Planning Board, and was an emergency medical technician for Westchester EMS as well as the Kent Volunteer Fire Department where he served three terms as president. He earned a M.P.A. from Marist College where he concentrated in healthcare administration and holds a B.A. from the University of Scranton where he majored in history and obtained dual minors in political science and military science leadership."

Kevin Byrne is a lifelong resident of Putnam County and resides in Mahopac with his wife, Briana (Messina) Byrne and their young son Braeden.
