Former Town Councilman To Challenge Durante in November for Town Supervisor

* Editor's Note* In yesterday's article, Republican Town of Southeast Supervisor Candidate Nick Durante was inadvertently mis-identified as Mike. HamletHub regrets the error and apologizes to Mr. Durante and their readers for any confusion. The article has been amended.

Former Southeast Town Councilman Robert Cullen has ben named by the Southeast Conservative Party to oppose Republican Primary winner Nick Durante in the November election for Southeast Town Supervisor.

Mr Cullen was named the nominee at last Tuesday’s Conservative Caucus.

Mr. Cullen served two terms on the Southeast Town Board as Councilman from 2010 to 2018 and is currently employed by Holtec International Security at the Indian Point Nuclear power plant in Buchanan.

Mr Cullen told Brewster HamletHub, after receiving the nomination, “I am running to allow all voter’s a choice in who their next supervisor will be for the next four years, not just a small number of republican voters”, in reference to the low voter turnout in June’s Republican Primary where only 906 of Southeast's registered Republican voters turned out. Mr. Durante won that Primary with 528 of those votes, defeating County Legislator Paul Jonke for the Republican Nomination.

The Democrats did not name candidate for this years election for Southeast Supervisor.
