Birthday Cards from Around the US for WWII Veteran Celebrating 100th Birthday

Emil Valentine of Orange County, NY “Always Wanted Birthday Cards from around The U.S.”

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) is encouraging Americans from around the country to join in him in sending a birthday card to Emil Valentine, a World War II veteran from his district in New York’s Hudson Valley who will be turning 100 years old in April. Valentine, who served in the 27th Infantry Division during the war, has “always wanted birthday cards from around the U.S. and around the world.” His family reached out to Rep. Maloney’s office requesting his assistance in honoring the veteran ahead of his 100th birthday.

“Emil answered his country’s call to serve and now it’s our turn – I encourage everyone to take the time to send a card to help Emil to celebrate his special day,” said Rep Maloney. “We owe our veterans for their service and sacrifice, and this is one simple way to bring some joy to someone who really deserves it.”

Valentine was deployed to the Pacific, where he encountered heavy fighting, was strafed by enemy fire several times on beaches, and was attacked by kamikaze pilots.

Rep. Maloney has asked the White House to provide a greeting to honor the veteran’s birthday. He will also send his own special recognition and present Valentine with a flag flown over the United States Capitol on his 100th birthday.

Cards can be sent to Emil Valentine, PO Box 1001 Rock Hill, NY 12775. Cards should be delivered by the end of April.
