Sheriff's Office removes 750 grams of Fentanyl, 2 Kilos of Cocaine and illegal guns from Putnam County Streets

Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports that during the month of October, 2020 the Putnam County
Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit made a total of 10 arrests.  As a result of these arrests, 750 grams of Fentanyl, 2 kilograms of Cocaine, and 450 grams of Heroin have been taken off our streets.

In addition to the narcotics seized, a total of 14 unlawfully possessed firearms have been seized. One such investigation involved the possession and sale of heroin in the Mahopac area of the Town of Carmel.  The target of this investigation, Kyle Novotny, has 4 prior felony convictions from previous Narcotics Enforcement Unit cases.  When Novotny was taken into custody, he unlawfully possessed a loaded Glock pistol.  He was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.  

Novotny was arraigned in the Town or Carmel Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail.

As with many of these operations, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department continues to work closely with multiple agencies, such as the DEA, Homeland Security Investigations, New York State Police, Westchester County Police Department, City of Peekskill Police Department, Town of Kent Police Department, Town of Carmel Police Department, City of Yonkers Police Department, Town of Yorktown Police Department, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office, and other Federal, State and local police agencies to further their investigations throughout Putnam County.
