Extreme Heat Advisory Issued by NWS

The National Weather Service (NWS) this morning issued an extreme heat advisory for the Hudson Valley Region of NY and parts of Connecticut. Hudson Valley Weather is also advising residents of extreme heat this week. A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.

The heat advisory from the NWS in in effect through Tuesday at 8 pm but the conditions that are likely across the Hudson Valley through at least Wednesday include:

  • – Hot and uncomfortably humid
  • – Highs near 90° Sunday… low to mid 90s for Mon – Wed
  • – Real feel Heat index values between 95° and 100°
  • – Heat exhaustion is a concern, take breaks from activity in the sun

While each day could see an isolated afternoon T-Storm, the chances are low. Most locations will stay dry until mid week when dropping temperatures increase the likelihood of scattered thunderstorms in the region.
