New York State Police from the Somers barracks announce the arrest of two Somers High School students in connection with vandalism that occurred earlier this year at the Somers High School.
On January 4, 2016 at approximately 6:00 a.m., the New York State Police in Somers were dispatched to Somers High School, located on Primrose Street, for a reported criminal mischief complaint. Somers school bus staff arrived at the bus garage and observe that numerous buses had been vandalized.
Following a lengthy investigation conducted by Investigator David Ruderfer, it was determined that two Somers High School students had caused over $29,000 worth of damage to approximately 43 school buses. The students slashed bus tires, shattered bus windows and discharged fire extinguishers.
On June 21, 2016, 18-year-old Jonas M. Moseby of Somers, New York, was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony. Moseby was arraigned before the Town of North Salem Justice Court and released after posting $10,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Somers Court on June 27, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Somers Police Department and the Westchester County Police School Resource Officer assigned to the Somers Central School District.
