New York State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II has appointed Major Robert M. Nuzzo as the 32nd Troop Commander of Troop K. Troop K covers the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester.
Major Nuzzo began his career with the State Police in 1987 as a Trooper assigned to Troop K and transferred to Troop F the following year. He served as a Trooper in Ulster County until his promotion to Sergeant in 1994 and remained in Troop F. In 2001, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Troop L in charge of security for the 2002 US Open Golf Championship. After that assignment, Major Nuzzo returned to Troop F as the Assistant Zone 3 Commander serving Ulster and Greene counties. He was appointed as Captain Special Services in 2006, a position he held until 2010 when he returned to Troop K as the Administrative Captain at Troop Headquarters and then as the Zone 2 Commander serving Dutchess and Putnam counties. In 2012, Nuzzo returned to Troop F as the Zone 3 Commander. He was promoted to Major Special Operations in 2015.
Major Nuzzo's appointment as Troop K Commander is effective August 25th. He replaces Major Robin H. Benziger who will go on to serve the Division of State Police in the Office of Employee Relations.
