Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services Prepares for Friday's Storm

At this time the Bureau Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is operating at a level 4 ( which means elevated monitoring mode).

Although the EOC is not open now,I do plan on opening it tomorrow morning with light staff, to watch the storm closely. We can expect snow, heavy rain, flooding and wind gusts to 45 to 50mph throughout the day.

So here's where we are: NYS OEM is open and moving resources throughout NYS to stand fast and ready for those that need them . NYSEG has 10 additional crews standing by in Brewster, Carmel area. Con Ed has also put extra gas crews on until Saturday.

Putnam County highway is ready with tree trucks and saws. The Sheriff and all Police Departments are on alert. Our 911 center will also be extra staffed to handle any additional call volume. All county offices will be open for most of the day.

Office of the aging will be closing after lunch is served. I want the county to know that our responders are always ready and we are the best! May you all stay safe tomorrow
