NYSEG and RG&E Restore Power to More Than 117,000 Customers Following Winter Storm

NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), continue to make progress following a significant winter storm on Thursday. The storm resulted in more than 188,000 outages affecting both homes and businesses. As of 10:00 a.m., 117,000 customers affected by the storm have been restored. The company expects more than 90% of customers affected by the storm in the Liberty and Brewster divisions including some of the hardest hit areas in Delaware, Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties restored by 11:45 p.m. tomorrow night.

“We have made good progress with the restoration,” said Carl A. Taylor, President and CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “We still have a lot of work ahead of us to restore power to our remaining customers, and we will not lessen our efforts until we restore every last customer.”

There are currently more than 2,000 personnel responding to the storm. Crews and contractors including those from assisting utilities out of Maine, Connecticut and Canada are expected to continue to work on restoration efforts until all customers are restored

As a result of the storm, there were nearly 2,000 reported downed wires. Customers are asked to stay away from downed wires. NYSEG customers should call 1.800.572.1131 and RG&E customers are asked to call 1.800.743.1701 to report downed power lines or other hazardous situations.
