Updates to the Sheriff’s Merchant Alert System

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. is taking this opportunity to invite all Putnam County merchants to take part in the Putnam County Merchant Alert System

Developed in 2003, this crime prevention system was implemented at the request of the leadership of the Brewster Chamber of Commerce to help keep local businesses informed about law enforcement and criminal related matters relevant to the safety of their employees and customers. The Putnam County Merchant Alert System is designed to keep merchants informed about the current status of criminal activity against businesses in the County; provide crime prevention topics, and provide public service messages regarding law enforcement matters of interest to merchants in the County.

Merchant Alert is an interactive system that allows law enforcement and County businesses to communicate in real time and has shown to be a positive step forward in Community Policing.

Participating businesses receive e-mail notifications simultaneously through the Putnam County Merchant Alert System.

To enroll in this valuable program, please complete the form on this page. Enrollment takes only a few minutes and is free of charge as a public service through the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

If you have any questions, please call Captain Jon Jennings at (845) 225-4300.
