Brooklyn man arrested for felony drug possession after running across lanes on I-684

On April 4, 2018, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Roger B. Sherwood, age 54, of Brooklyn, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony, Tampering with Evidence, a class E felony, and Disorderly Conduct, a violation.
 
On April 4, 2018, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to Interstate 684 in the town of Southeast for a report of a suspicious person in the roadway.  Upon arrival Troopers observed the male, later identified as Sherwood, running in the northbound lanes of Interstate 684.  When Troopers activated the emergency lights Sherwood ran into the median, and could be seen throwing a small plastic bag.  Sherwood was taken into custody without further incident, and the small bag which contained approximately 2.4 grams of cocaine was recovered.
 
Sherwood was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail without bail.  Sherwood is next scheduled to appear before the court on April 10, 2018, at 1:30 p.m.
