Brewster Fire Department Acquires Tool to Aid in Lifting Vehicles Off Trapped Victims

The Brewster/Southeast Fire District recently purchased a tool called the TL 9. The tool is very small and attaches to the Hurst Tool (Jaws of Life), and is used to lift vehicles off of people who are trapped underneath them.

The TL-9 Stabilizer allows for a rapid lift with maximum stabilization. Accoring to Fire Apparatus Magazine, "The TL-9 is a heavy duty universal appliance designed to fit all commercially available rescue spreaders. Made of one-half-inch-thick plate steel, the stabilizer is designed to offer a six-inch by six-inch base with vertical gusseted support towers on which a spreader can be used to effect a more stable vertical lift."

Brewster Fire Dept. Capt. Steve Miller ran the training exercise.
