NYSEG Restoration Efforts Continue in Brewster

Crews Working to Restore Power to Customers who Remain Without Power After Catastrophic Storm and Tornadoes Hit New York

NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), continues to safely and collaboratively restore power to customers after this week’s severe storm. Crews are working with municipal officials to clear roads and have restored power to critical facilities including nursing homes and all area schools.

The National Weather service has confirmed at least two tornadoes touching down in Putnam County through Kent and Patterson. North Salem in northern Westchester County endured a microburst. These severe weather events included 80 to 90 mph wind gusts.

As of 12:30 p.m., approximately 12,000 customers remain without power in the Company’s Brewster Division serving portions of Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties. More than 6,900 customers remain without power in the Liberty Division serving portions of Delaware, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties. A workforce of more than 1,800 company, contractor and mutual assistance line and tree crews from Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada will continue to work until all customers are restored.

NYSEG anticipates restoring 90% of customers in the Brewster Division this evening at 7:00 p.m. and most of the remaining customers tomorrow by 11:45 p.m. with the exception of a few small pockets of customers in highly damaged areas that require rebuilding of
customer and company infrastructure. Current customer outages by county are as follows:
Putnam: 9,295
Westchester: 1,762
Dutchess: 709

Localized information on Estimated Times for Restoration (ETRs) is available at nyseg.com/Outages/outageinformation.html as it becomes available.

“We understand the hardships our customers and communities face when they are without power. Our restoration teams are committed to restoring our customers’ power as quickly as possible and will not stop until each and every one of our customers has power back,” said Carl A. Taylor, NYSEG President and CEO. “We also want to thank our municipal partners and first responders, law enforcement, firefighter and public works personnel who continue to support us in this extreme weather event.”

Today, crews continue to focus on 1,656 downed wires and 508 broken poles as well as transmission segments in the two divisions. Transmission workers continue to rebuild the segment of the Liberty transmission line that affects approximately 3,000 customers. Customers may see additional outages on the system as we temporarily take outages in order to safely make repairs and restore service. Until restoration is complete, NYSEG will continue to work with elected and municipal officials at all levels of government to coordinate shelters, dry ice and bottled water distribution, and to manage downed wires, road openings, staging areas for our equipment and crews, and restoration of critical facilities.

NYSEG urges customers to stay away from downed power lines because even lines that appear dead can be dangerous. To report a downed line or power interruption, contact NYSEG at 1.800.572.1131. Anyone who has access to a working computer or mobile
device during a power interruption can also report the interruption online at nyseg.com.
