Putnam Sheriff’s K-9 “Kato” Graduates Basic Patrol Academy

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. announces the graduation of Sheriff’s K-9 “Kato”. This past Friday, Kato, along with K-9 handler Deputy Christopher Irwin, graduated from the Orange County Sheriff’s K-9 Basic Patrol Academy, located in Montgomery, New York. Kato became certified in K-9 Criminal Apprehension, Tracking, Evidence Recovery, Building Searches and Handler Protection. Kato was previously certified in Narcotics Detection.

"As a former K-9 Handler with the Sheriff’s Department I personally know how much time and dedication our Deputies put in each and every day," states Sheriff Landley, "The K-9 and his/her handler form a special bond working together, one that is so close that the K-9 will always stand watchful over his partner ready to face any evil that may come their way."
