At approximately 5:30 a.m. on September 5, 2018, Deputy Vincent Dalo, Sgt. Timothy Keith, and K-9 Lex, who are assigned to the K-9 Unit of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, responded to a home in the Town of Carmel to assist the Carmel Police Department with a male subject who had fled the scene of a violent domestic incident.
Deputy Dalo obtained an article of the subject’s clothing which was used as a “scent article”. The “scent article” was introduced to Dalo’s K-9 partner Lex. Lex was able to locate a trail left by the subject and led Deputy Dalo and Sgt. Keith into a wooded area where the suspect was found lying in a tall grassy area.
Sgt. Keith handcuffed the subject and turned him over to the members of the Carmel Police Department.
